The Social Side of Online Poker

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Call me crazy but there’s only one thing better than playing real money poker tables and that’s playing free poker tables.  Now, for most people, money’s the name of the game, and I get that.   But for me,  I’m more of a social player and playing the free online poker tables has definitely given me the best social play around.

Online poker attracts millions of people from around the world.   Now, a lot of them can be found at the real money tables, but there are plenty that take advantage of free online casinos in order to try new skills and strategies.  There are also just other people out there who enjoy playing with no money on the line.  Whatever the case, free online casinos have become a big hit and in return I’ve got a great social scene at the online poker tables.

I meet people from all over the world and get to learn all sorts of cool things about different places.  I also get to learn about great unknown destinations for my next vacation.  You can’t beat a local’s knowledge!  Not only that, but online casino players are known for being a great source of information.  So, while I’m being hit the social aspect of the online poker tables, I also pick up great tips to improve my game.

In the end, when I do make it to the real casinos, my time at the online casinos really pays off.   My game gets so good just passing the time at the online poker tables, that when I hit the real casino tables, I clean house!

The Backgammon Game Basics

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Popular since the time of the ancient Egyptians, the backgammon game has seen a surge of popularity lately thanks to the success of televised casino game tournaments.  Many people who have only known the backgammon board as that strange thing on the back of checker boards have now taken the time to understand and enjoy this truly great game.

The backgammon game, of course, is nowhere near as intimidating as the backgammon board appears to be.  The board is actually very simple.  There are 4 sections divided by a bar running down the middle creating two halves.  The bar does not affect the game and is simply a holding area.  So, if it feels better, imagine it not even there.  You and your opponent start from the same side of the board on opposite sections and simply roll the dice in order to move your checkers from your side of the board (outer board) to your opponents side of the board (your home board).  Once you have your checkers at your home board, simply roll the dice to move them off the board.  The first person to clear their checkers off the board wins.  That is the very simple premise of backgammon.  Of course, the backgammon game wouldn’t be so popular if it wasn’t for its challenging strategy.  There are many ways for you to block the backgammon board to prevent your opponent from moving and ways for you to run the board and clear your checkers fast.  This is where the backgammon game becomes a thinking man’s game and, indeed, beyond the simple rules of the game, it is the battle of strategies, wit and luck that ultimately will make you a winner or loser.

Casino Games Online

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

The image of the Casino has certainly changed over the years.  I never really thought that it would be possible to play Blackjack from my computer for real money! While Blackjack is my favorite game, that’s not all that’s available online.

These software companies have come out with every game that you’ll find a casino and made them available to people all over the world wherever they have internet access and a computer.  You can play classic casino games like my favorite, Blackjack, or Craps, Roulette, Baccarat, Video Poker and more.  In addition, you can also find websites that offer online poker and online bingo.

The software is designed to look and feel as close to the real thing as you can get from your computer, and I have to say… they don’t do that bad a job!  Obviously, you aren’t in Vegas but they have fun sound effects and the game design makes you think about the real casino.  There are some major perks with being able to play a round or two of Blackjack in the privacy and comfort of your own home.  You can play in your underwear at any time of day or night and there is no travel necessary! (I love going to Vegas but I have a serious fear of flying, for example.)

Obviously, the best feeling is being able to cash out a few extra bucks but sometimes I just play in the practice mode.  Every once in a while, I’ll also use my favorite online casino to try out some new games that I never was into before (craps is the one I’m trying to get the hang of now.)  Wish me luck!

Connecting with your online casino inner self

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

Ever had problems with connecting to your favorite online casino sites?  Torn between whether to download the software or not?  Well, it could be a lot simpler than you think to get your ‘career’ in an online casino up and running.

In internet chat rooms on online gambling sites, there seems to be a big debate raging as to which is the better style to play – download, or browser based online casino games.  I guess that when it comes down to it that really depends upon you.  If you have the memory space on our PC or laptop, there are many who like the enhanced gaming that downloading software can provide – such as greatly enhanced graphics and really life-like sounds.  Downloading online casino software can make that difference if that is what you are after.  What would you think though, if I told you that you could get a similar experience, without the need to download any software?  There is a  slight reduction in sound and graphics quality, but the quicker your internet connection, the less that this will seem either apparent or relevant.  And if you’ve never tried downloading online casino software, you won’t really feel like you are missing anything anyway.

So, if you want to keep your desktop clean and your system running well, think about playing browser-based online casino games.  If graphics and sound are not your top priority, but winning money and having fun are, then you really won’t feel too hard done by playing without downloading.

The Online Gambling Advantage

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

The world of online gambling has changed the way we look at casino games. Those of us who have been playing and wagering on casino games since the days before the internet are all too familiar with the difficulties that we encountered when trying to get to land-based casinos. Booking flights, registering for hotel rooms and scheduling the time to get to Las Vegas or Monte Carlo were all a part of the non-digital gambling process. These are, of course, still things we must do to reach big-time gambling centers, but they need not be a part of our gambling experience since we now have the ultra-convenience method of online gambling.

Online gambling has truly changed the face of gambling today. Now, instead of booking a flight to Las Vegas, we can simply kick back at our home computers and log online to enjoy competitive and profitable gaming. This is not only the most convenient method of casino game play, but also the cheapest – all of the money that we would have spent on flights, hotels, meals, and other expenses can now be invested in our gaming skills.

What do all of these changes mean for the casino game fan? For one, the addition of online gambling to the industry provides an incredible, new range of playing options. Some online casino websites feature more than 100 different games that we, as players, can access 24/7.

The question now is: Which gaming method do you prefer and why?

Want to Play Backgammon Free on the Net? What to Look Out For

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

A quick google search will present you with lists and lists of sites that offer you the option to play backgammon free on the internet. This is an excellent thing in itself, and shows just how much choice we, as backgammon players have. However, the idea is not to simply go to the first site and download its software. To ensure that your free backgammon experience is a good one, look out for several elements when choosing the software.

The Interface – Some sites offer you to play backgammon free of charge but they do not do much to encourage you in terms of the game’s interface. Try to look out for software that provides three-dimensional boards that give you a feel of realistic play that is close to the ‘real’ thing as possible. The interface should be bright (without being too loud) and user-friendly. Avoid free software that is 2-D and looks like a child’s drawing.

Real Money Option – While you might not think about it now, there may come a day when you don’t want to play backgammon free of charge anymore. Gambling for real money adds an exciting element to the game and of course puts you in line to win it back as your skill level improves.  Good free software, therefore, will allow you make that switch over from practice mode to real money play without any fuss if and when you are ready to do so.
